Publisher's Synopsis
Excerpt from Metrical Epitaphs: Ancient and Modern
The pyramids justly ranked by the most ancient historians among the wonders of the world, and which have for so many ages excited the attention of the curious and the criticism of the learned, are considered by some as the sepulchres and monuments of Egyptian monarchs; and this opinion is confirmed by Arabian writers, as well as by Diodorus and Strabo, which, if correct, would make them the oldest sepulchral monu ments in the world, even older than the time of Abra ham.
