Publisher's Synopsis

Excerpt from A Study of Kant

Have called this little book 'a study' because it consists Ii of a selection from notes made as a preliminary to some thing more systematic, which however now at my time of life is never likely to appear. I have decided to publish them - not without misgiving - in the hope that they may be of some use to students younger than myself. But I might not have got even this far, had I not been invited by the British Academy to deliver this year the annual Henriette Hertz Lecture on a Master Mind, and selected Immanuel Kant as my man.
