To these marginal papilla, under the name of marginal bodies, Yerkes 1 ascribes a Special light-recipient function he says, the probability is strong that they are the special organs of photic stimulation. This conclusion seems to be based on the location and heavy pigmentation of the papilla, and also on some experi ments which will be referred to farther on.
