Publisher's Synopsis
Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online.
Handicraft, also known as craft work, is a type of work where useful and decorative devices are made completely by hand or using only simple tools. The individual artisanship of the items is a paramount criterion. Handicrafts are generally considered more traditional work, created as a necessary part of daily life, while art and craft implies more of a hobby pursuit and a demonstration of a creative technique. This book studies various forms of textile and ceramic handicrafts including hat making, rug making, patch work, tapestry, stained glass, and porcelain.
