Publisher's Synopsis
Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. With over a billion users of nicotine-related products, tobacco has an international strength as an agricultural product processed from the Nicotiana plant. Consumption is normally by means of smoking, chewing, or dipping, and the health-related effects make the use of tobacco the leading preventable cause of death worldwide. This book explores the history of tobacco, the industry, the production of tobacco, and the many tobacco-related products available. Also discussed are the social and health impacts of tobacco, including the 5.4 million deaths per year attributed to tobacco products. Project Webster represents a new publishing paradigm, allowing disparate content sources to be curated into cohesive, relevant, and informative books. To date, this content has been curated from Wikipedia articles and images under Creative Commons licensing, although as Project Webster continues to increase in scope and dimension, more licensed and public domain content is being added. We believe books such as this represent a new and exciting lexicon in the sharing of human knowledge.
