Publisher's Synopsis
Please note that the content of this book primarily consists of articles available from Wikipedia or other free sources online. Designed as a preventative layer between bodily sweat and outerwear, undergarments throughout history have evolved from the practical need to the fashion statement. Worn under clothes, undergarments such as brassieres and corsets were intended to maximize the visual aspects of the outer clothing layers. Long underwear, and by extension sleepwear, kept the wearer warm in the night. Call them skivvies or undies, slips or panties, drawers or knickers, tightie-whities or g-strings, everyone has a favorite type. This book highlights the evolution of underwear for both men and women with sections on current styles, wardrobe malfunctions like whale tails and plumbers butt, and social trends like underwear-as-outerwear and going commando. Project Webster represents a new publishing paradigm, allowing disparate content sources to be curated into cohesive, relevant, and informative books. To date, this content has been curated from Wikipedia articles and images under Creative Commons licensing, although as Project Webster continues to increase in scope and dimension, more licensed and public domain content is being added. We believe books such as this represent a new and exciting lexicon in the sharing of human knowledge.
