Dow returned a 54 for Mb twelve holes to 56 returned by Strath, Dow thus taking second place. Considering the enthusiastio way in which he entered into the fromer tournament, Dow's success was well received. The amateur competition of the next day received an entry of no less than twenty-six. The weather was again favourable although the greens after so much play were beginning to bake uncomfortably. At the end of the three rounds Sergeant-Major Chalmers, of the King James VI. Club, landed a popular winner, olosely followed by J. G. M'Pherson, who had run Bob Andrews so close in the first and second rounds of the professional competition the previous day.
