Publisher's Synopsis
Andrew Lang (1844-1912) Scottish man of letters. As a journalist, poet, critic and historian, he soon made a reputation as one of the ablest and most versatile writers of the day. Lang's versatility was also shown in his valuable works on folklore and on primitive religion. The Myths of the Origin of Death was first published in The Princeton Review on July 1883. Here some typical instances of myths of the Origin of Death are examined. Such myths would naturally arise only among peoples which have not the scientific conception of the nature and universality of Death, survivals from the time when these peoples were uncivilized.
