Amy and Otis meet again, two years after society's collapse. With the saddle horses Otis has trained to pull his makeshift plow, he is plowing fields for his friends-a matter of survival in the After. Amy has news: her uncle's trained team of heavy horses is running free in the hills southwest of Camas Prairie. Otis and Amy go after them.
