This is the third book that follows "The Myth Of the Anal Probe", and Gladly the Cross-Eyed Bear". In The Fat Lady Sings, the people of the planet Hale return to Earth and offer an ultimatum. Stop all forms of aggression and violence, or they will return in 1 year and obliterate Earth. Earthlings realize that at the end of that one year whoever is in control will rule the entire world for ever. All countries start to jockey for position, and push each other out of the way. It begins to look like either they will realize the futility of what they are trying to do for the sake of ultimate peace, or they will destroy the planet. It's a coin toss until the last chapter.
