Publisher's Synopsis

Rabbi Arnold Ford's contributions to the UNIA included helping to write the governing rule-book, suggesting the red, black, and green flag as its ensign, and his song "Ethiopia" becoming the "Universal Ethiopian Anthem." The UNIA constitution required that it be sung at every gathering, and it was included in his Universal Ethiopian Hymnal. Ford also started one of the earliest Black Jewish groups in the United States in 1920-1921 and a colony of his followers in Ethiopia in the early 1930s. This is a facsimile repent of his hymnal with three background essays added.
