Publisher's Synopsis
A Monarch butterfly only lives for about two to six weeks after hatching. Most of their winters are too cold for them to survive, so they migrate to warmer places. They hibernate in Mexico and California, where the weather is much warmer. This process takes about a month. During that time, they eat nectar from plants in order to survive. The life span of a monarch butterfly varies depending on the species and location, but it is usually between two and six weeks.
