Publisher's Synopsis
The book is written for those of us who love Alabama Crimson Tide Football. and its great and storied football players. Crimson Tide football supporters cannot wait until the next UA win. The book is quite simple in that it first tells the story about how the game of football came about in the US; then it describes how Alabama football came into being. Then, we examine the great all-conference and all-American players and other great Alabama players who made the program so successful. Alabama fans know that in 1892, the University's first football team assembled calling itself the "Thin Red Line." From a bit thin in the ranks, to later becoming the crushing "Crimson Tide," this book gets you to the point that you can look at great Alabama players from over the years and enjoy reading about their outstanding accomplishments. You will find highlights of great players in Alabama football and be able to read a narrative of each regarding their exceptional prowess, their impact on Alabama football, and their impact on pro football. To stage the reader for future Alabama greatness, we also recap the 2017 championship game and offer unique insights. Now that the loss to Clemson is behind us all, we can move on to the future greatness we always expect from the Crimson Tide. None of the players highlighted are suggested to be the greatest. They are in this book, which promises to grow over time as great Alabama players. There may be a player who is greater or the greatest ever. I leave that to the pundits and the fans. There are hundreds of great Alabama players from 1892 to today, and we look at many who simply stand-out among their peers. In this book, we find names such as Riley Smith, Harry Gilmer, Bart Starr, Kenny Stabler, AJ McCarron, Joe Namath, Cornelius Bennett, Mark Ingram and others. I can't wait to read this as a finished book. I hope you feel the same way. You will not be able to put this book down
