Publisher's Synopsis
Children have the opportunity to learn the many faces of truth, lies, and deception while visualizing themselves in similar situations in this tale of one boy’s journey to the truth. Tommy accidentally breaks a projector while running through the school library with his friend, Steve, and they quickly flee the scene. When questioned by their principal, Tommy and his fellow students recount dramatically different versions of the incident. Already feeling badly about the situation, Tommy becomes even more dispirited when Steve berates him for telling the truth. Hoping to gain some clarity, Tommy and his sister Lili enter the portal of truth and lies, where they learn what lies are, how they work, why people tell them, and the importance of being truthful. Ensuing sections advise grown-ups on how to modify their behavior to set a better example, encourage honesty within the family, and provide role-playing situations to give children the character-building skills to respond appropriately in sticky situations.
