Publisher's Synopsis

1912 was the year campaigning editor W T Stead drowned in the Titanic disaster, and the year George Bernard Shaw wrote Pygmalion, the main character being young Eliza from Lisson Grove. In 1885 Stead went to jail for abducting the 13year old Eliza after a sensational trial at the Old Bailey. Shaw wove her character into Pygmalion.
