Publisher's Synopsis

Humans were spreading, as they once did on earth, into every niche that would sustain them. There were human colonists on the rim of the Milky Way looking longingly across the empty chasm of intergalactic space at our neighbouring galaxies, hoping a way would be found to bridge the chasm. The way to the next galaxy was through a stabilised wormhole. Yet this last piece of the technological puzzle was being sabotaged. Out there, an entity was undermining humanity's one way of reaching the other galaxies. The scientists were on the verge of succeeding in stabilising the wormhole yet all the information on wormholes was under threat. Any enterprise trying to stabilise wormholes was being attacked. The culprits had to be found. Humanities interstellar dream demanded it. The Praut Investigation Agency is hired to uncover the guilty party. This begins a chain of events leading to murder, war, and mayhem. The reader is taken across the galaxy, following Praut's ingenious sniffers, to various planets in pursuit of the culprits. On one occasion, they follow a sniffer to a bizarre hippy planet, yet on another planet, they are rescued by Sami reindeer herders from a crash landing in the tundra. Praut and his people are forced to suffer hardships, trek through snow, fight their way through numerous adventures. All in a search of the mysterious guilty perpetrator who is out to destroy the technology with which humankind hopes to reach out into the universe. The final outcome shocks Praut and his companions, and threatens the very existence of humanity for some time to come.
