Publisher's Synopsis
This text presents a complete bibliography of children's literature featuring children with disabilities. It would serve well to supplement a course in special education or for a course on children's literature. An introductory chapter explains special education legislation, and includes research information on the benefits of using children's literature of this kind. Sections of the chapters on the various disabilities give tips for working with children, as well as activities that can be initiated to enhance the children's experiences with the books and encourage further understanding and empathy for individuals with differences.
