Eight years ago, Sam Holt brought his family to Oregon and started up Rainbow Ranch. Also with them was Morgan Drew, the son of Sam's deceased best friend. Morgan wanted no part of Rainbow Ranch, instead creating the Big D Ranch, which grew to be the second largest in the area. But Morgan wants the largest - JB Ranch, owned by Jason Bell - and is convinced that the best way to get it is to marry Jason's daughter, Karen, a marriage that Jason approves of. But Karen is in love with Sam Holt's son, Bruce. Morgan tells Sam that either he sells him Rainbow Ranch, or Jason will run him off. And that is where matters stand when the Paiutes go to war against all the ranchers. It is a war that will change everything...
