Selina Stark, budding star on the Liverpool media circuit, is found dead, murdered by a single gunshot wound to the head. Although a man is convicted, not all of Liverpool's finest are convinced the right man is in jail. A year later, private eye Johnny Ace is reluctant to follow a cold trail - he has enough problems. A client who feared she was being stalked has been killed whilst under Johnny's protection, and he's also investigating a case of industrial espionage. Just as he makes some rather interesting findings, another victim is shot dead...
