Publisher's Synopsis

Jackson O'Reilly is a 17-year-old New Englander who in 1805 sails with his parents on the Perdido Star to Cuba, to claim the land his mother has inherited. But the trip descends into violence and revenge, and with his parents murdered and their land confiscated, Jack rejoins the Star as a member of the crew. The boy Jackson O'Reilly becomes the pirate 'Black Jack', relentless scourge of any who stand in his path. Even his trusted friend Paul Le Maire underestimates Jack's capacity for revenge. For Jack remains obsessed with returning to Cuba and finally facing the evil Count de Silva.
