Publisher's Synopsis
At the much-heralded opening of her husband's new exhibition, Hester Eliot realizes that she is disillusioned with his work. She is also physically exhausted after a miscarriage and has begun to question her own talent as a painter. She seeks refuge at a friends cottage in the West Country.
