Detective Inspector Roger Watson is getting nowhere. A 40-year-old spinster is in a coma in the hospital, and he is convinced she has been raped by the Reverend Thomas Wright. The investigation is floundering for lack of evidence, so the Inspector is persuaded to join forces with a scientist who claims to be able to download information directly from the inhuman brain.
