Publisher's Synopsis
A series of picture books tell the adventures of Cyril, the cartoon character from BBC Schools 'Storytime'. Each book includes a further story featuring a range of other colourful characters. Ideal for children aged 4-8. Cyril gets into all sorts of scrapes, but somehow always manages to come out all right in the end. So much so, in fact, that he sometimes finishes up a national hero! The other stories that accompany his adventures include such characters as a grumpy green giant, a beautiful butterfly, and a creature that no-one can quite put a name to. Every tale incorporates a simple moral issue that children may confront every day, like being thought ugly, or different from others, or facing the consequences of lying. The morals are subtly demonstrated, and with the use of bright cartoon pictures, their message is conveyed to children humorously and succinctly. Cyril's New Parrot - Cyril is devastated when he loses his pet parrot, but is only reunited with his pet when he learns that it is the quiet word that is heard most clearly. Edwina and Archibald - Archibald loves his ugly caterpillar girlfriend, and his steadfast love, despite the scorn of others, is rewarded when she turns into a beautiful butterfly. Royalties from the books will be donated to the Fellowship of Erasmus, a spiritual charity counselling HIV/Aids sufferers.
