This is a study of the international context of democratization aiming to enlarge on previous studies which have concentrated upon internal domestic factors in the overthrow of authoritarian undemocratic regimes.;The transition from facist regime to democracy, and the effectiveness of external pressures on changing states, offer a basis for the study of "linkage politics". This study combines theoretical chapters with empirical case studies, and comparative politics with international relations.
