This book is based on a painting exhibition held to commemorate the 150th anniversary of the Royal College of Art in London.;It is revealed that since the turn of the century the college's painting school has been a major force in the development of modern British art. This retrospective exhibition displays the work of past teachers and students who have become some of Britain's noted artists - Paul Nash, Edward Burra, John Piper, Bridget Riley, Peter Blake, David Hockney, R.B.Kitaj and Francis Bacon.;The book comprises short narrative chapters on the painting school and its role in British art.
