Part One - The years 1422-1445. Henry V, the victor of Agincourt, died in 1422. His baby son, Henry VI, was only eight months old, and all matters of state were put under a Council. When the Earl of Somerset quarrelled with Richard Plantagenet, the civil strife called the Wars of the Roses grew. Young King Henry foolishly took the red rose - he would have been wiser to remain neutral In battle in France, the Earl of Suffolk captured and fell in love with a beautiful Frenchwoman, Margaret of Anjou. Cunningly, he proposed that Henry should marry her in order that through her he might rule the weak and vacillating king.
