Publisher's Synopsis
Gaia has just started hanging out with Mary, her first female friend since moving to New York when she finds out that Mary is a lesbian. Mary is up against a lot of bigotry and Gaia starts defending her lifestyle, but in doing so, everyone assumes Mary and Gaia are an item. Gaia does nothing to quell the rumours, let them think what they want to think. But then Mary decides to come out to her family, and brings Gaia over on Thanksgiving to help her. Once again, everyone assumes Gaia is the girlfriend but this time there is a problem. Sam is there with Mary's brother and now he thinks Gaia is totally out of reach. Gaia can tell he is shocked and crushed. She watches him walk out, her heart breaking. Then Gaia decides enough is enough. She runs after Sam, grabs him and kisses him - finally! And after all the waiting and longing it doesn't disappoint. It is a kiss which effectively dispels his assumptions - and proves what she's known all along - she and Sam are meant to be.
