Publisher's Synopsis
Listing of postmasters and other officials of the Cape of Good Hope postal services to 1910. The Author's introduction on the reverse reads: "There is much about this little volume which will recommend itself to an audience whose ancestors once found employment in the postal establishment of the Cape of Good Hope. Admittedly this is not a book that many members of the Westville Book Club will enjoy. Indeed, as some people will sadly attest, it is woefully lacking in plot, it has no romantic heroines, and its list of protagonists is boringly long. As is only to be expected, a research project which has taken 43 years of my life to complete will have a number of unfinished issues to deal with. These, like dangling participles, are lists of data that have taken hundreds of loving hours to compile and yet, without my assistance, would never see the light of publication. At the time they were a necessary means to an end, but now that my conclusions have been arrived at and the letters QED have been drawn at the bottom of my thesis, I look forward to sharing this information with others of like mind. May the information contained in this book assist you in your noble quest for knowledge."
