Alexander Smidget can't catch a break! Sure, he's the smallest kid in sixth grade. Sure, he's in love with the beautiful and popular Sandy Empelschmidt. And sure, he just happens to be the target of every bully around including the evil gym teacher. But when the mysterious Dr. Greenman comes to town with a cabinet full of strange concoctions, Alex wonders if things are about to change for the better. Thanks to the doctor's glowing green Growth Elixir, Alex may finally be able to stand up to the school bullies and impress Sandy. That is, until the elixir's bizarre side effects kick in! With the help of his new friends, Fumi and Ricky, Alex must find an antidote before the next full moon; otherwise, he may end up the biggest, scariest kid the town of Butterdale has ever seen. Whether he's belching slimy stink bubbles, eating weeds from a lake, being shot at by farmers, or sleeping in a tree-Alex will need a lot of help to make it to summer vacation in one piece. They say be careful what you wish for, and as this twelve-year-old will soon discover, wishing to be bigger can have some sizable problems... monstrous ones even!
