Lady Stanhope's Manuscript and Other Stories collects eleven stories written and published over the last thirty years. Some are written in the tradition of the antiquarian ghost story as established by M.R. James. Others may perhaps be classified as "strange stories" in the mode of Robert Aickman. Dale Nelson's stories have appeared in Ghosts and Scholars, Fungi, and books from Ash-Tree Press and Tartarus Press. His articles have appeared in Tolkien Studies, Lovecraft Studies, Studies in Weird Fiction, Mythlore, Mallorn, and Fadeaway, and he is a columnist for the Tolkien newsletter Beyond Bree and CSL: The Journal of the New York C. S. Lewis Society.
