Publisher's Synopsis
Excerpt from The Miscellaneous Works, Vol. 1 of 4: Containing All His Original Poems, Tales, and Translations
In the arranging of the larger of our author's original pieces, we have paid a firiet regard to the times in which they were written begin ning firft with the earlieft. The dedication of the Annus Mirabilis to the city of London, is added from the firit edition of that poem in ato; and we have given the entire feeond part of Ab-4 falom and Achitophel, though a good deal Of it was written by Tate, becaufe the whole nar ration is rendered thereby more perfee't and uni form. We have alfo reprinted Soam's tranflation' of the Art Of Poetry, as Dryden had a very con fiderable hand in it, and permitted his name to be inferted in the title-page in his own life time.
