Mohawk Valley in the 177o's. Samuel Cooke was born in Franklin County, Ohio, and in 1846 Chauncey joined the family at Columbus. Then there was another move, to Winchester, Indiana. From there in 1856 the Cookes with Chauncey, two brothers and a sister, took a 370 mile wagon trip to western Wisconsin.
