In the year 1800, he was chosen minister of the Chapel of Base at Anderston, in the suburbs Of Glasgow; where he continued to fulfil his pastoral duties, public and private, me select congregation of much attached people, till near the time of his death. Greatly as he was o'bcupied with his official duties, many as were the calls on him for ministerial assistance from the neighbouringcity, and numer ous as were his engagements with Christian friends, he found time to cherish and manifest his affection ate regard for the general interests of the gospel. Besides being a leading member of a district Socie ty for religious purposes, he was secretary, SO long as he was able, to the Glasgow Missionary Society, and the great instrument in the hand of God, of re viving and raising it to its present state of active exertion and prosperity.
