I think I may affirm in general, that our Senfes were appointed Centinels to perceive and convey'ideas readily to us of fuch Parts, and fo much of Matter, fuch Motions, fuch A6tions and fuch Accidents, as are imme diately neceffary, beneficial, ufeful or con' venient for us to perceive firongly, thofe for'more difiant Ends faintly, and firong lier or weaklier, as they are more or lefs fo.
