The extracts are taken from the stand ard American edition of Wesley's Works, published by the Methodist Book Concern in 1831. They are mostly from the Ser mons, Volumes I and II, and from the Letters and other miscellaneous writings in Volumes VI and VII; In a few cases there has been abridgment and condensa tion on account of our limited space, but the words are all Wesley's, and the sense has in no instance been altered. This can be verified by the reference at the close of each selection. Wesley's weightiest, wisest words (his chief message to the people of this generation) will be found in these pages. James mudge.
