Nachdem Ende December die notigen Vorbereitungen getroffen, zumal durch Empfehlungsbriefe an geeignete Pers�nlichkeiten daf�r gesorgt war, �ber �u�ere Schwierigkeiten hinwegzukommen, begab ich mich am 2. Januar 4895 von meinem Wohnort Constitucion den Rio Maule aufw�rts nach Talca. Von dort benutzte ich die chilenische Centralbahn bis San Rosendo, und in s�d�stlicher Richtung weiter nach Los Sauces, von wo aus ich die Excursion in die Berge zu beginnen gedachte.
