Publisher's Synopsis
Excerpt from Decay in White Fir Top-Killed by Douglas-Fir Tussock Moth
A 1970 timber sale on the Mammoth Lakes District, which included part of the 1937 infestation and study area, offered an opportunity to determine if heart rots were a significant cause of defect in white fir trees 33 years after top-killing by the Douglas-fir tussock moth. Many of the pole-sized trees top-killed as a result of the severe defoliation are now of merchant able size and were included in the timber sale.
