Publisher's Synopsis
Dr Nicola Drew has always had very strong insights into the health of her patients. She can tell at a glance if women are pregnant before they know themselves, and she seems to sense instinctively whether critically ill patients are going to live or die. But she detects no warning signs whatsoever when her artist fiancé dumps her in a very dramatic, public and humiliating way, three weeks before they were due to go to Indonesia together to work for his father. Unable to change her contract, Nicola has to fly to Jakarta on her own, still devastated by her relationship breakup and with no idea why her fiancé behaved quite so cruelly. She lands in a
city where big changes are taking place. The currency is collapsing, pro-democracy riots are springing up and the job she has been hired to do in a city centre clinic is not all it seems . . .
