Publisher's Synopsis
Excerpt from An Historical Catalogue of the Old South Church: Boston
Judge Sewall has much to say about a neighborhood prayer meeting to which he gave his warm personal sympathy, and which he attended with as much regularity as was possible, during the entire period of his Christian life. It was established by his father-in-law, John Hull, and other members of the South Church; and it seems to have been for a time the only regular week-day service in the town except the Thursday Lecture. Frequent reference to this meeting will be found in the later pages Of this volume; the following account of it, during the first year of its existence, will serve to introduce it to the reader, and to bring into prominent notice several of the members who participated in its privileges.
