Publisher's Synopsis
Excerpt from A Short History of the Scottish People
Full use has been made of the large, and especially the more recent, histories, such as those of Mr. Hume Brown and Mr. Andrew Lang, and of the works of such acknow ledged experts as Dr. D. Hay Fleming, Mr. John Mackintosh, and Mr. William Law Mathieson but the original sources available have also been independently consulted, and every effort made to keep the work abreast of the most recent research.
The author has to express his great indebtedness to the Rev. James H. Mackay, m.a., Hastie Lecturer in the University of Glasgow, and the Rev. A. J. Campbell, ra. Minister of St John's Parish, Glasgow, for their careful revision of proofs, and to the latter also for a very full and complete Index.
