The second and third parts may fairly be considered as a separate volume, complete in themselves, and independent of the first; which, when finished, will likewise make a distinct work, but with various references to the two former; as they have numerous passages con neeted with the personal narrative. Annexed to them is a copious alphabetical Index, and another will be given to Part i.; for, having Often lamented the want of such an essential portion Of a book, I have made it a rule to give one to every published volume.
