Publisher's Synopsis

Excerpt from The Lives of the Players, Vol. 2 of 2

At the age of fourteen he was bound an apprentice to a saddler, but his notions of life were of a higher scope, he soon escaped from his trade, and travelled up to Dublin on foot. How he managed to exist there he never told, but the story of the Irish judge comes partly in to ex plain it, and it was as humbly as could well be; all he himself ever acknowledged was, that after being some time in the metropolis, he got settled as a badgeman in Trinity College.
