Was ihn hierzu veranla�te, l��t sich nicht feststellen; sicher ist nur, da� er schon 1514 das Denkmal des hl. Willibald im Dom zu Eichstatt vollendete, ein umfangreiches Werk, das kaum in einem Jahr entstanden sein d�rfte, also auch schon 1513 in Arbeit gewesen sein wird. Das Willibaldsdenkmal wurde, wie die Inschrift beweist, durch Bischof Gabriel von Eyb in Auftrag gegeben. Der Umstand, da� der Meister sogleich bei seiner �bersiedlung nach Eichstatt einen so bedeutenden Auftrag durch den Bischof erhielt, l��t vermuten, da� Gabriel von Eyb die �bersiedlung irgend wie veranla�t habe�)
