Anegada Island is a member of the British Virgin Islands located on the northeastern edge of the Virgin Bank, Latitude Longitude 64zo'w. (see Figure Although asso ciated with the predominantly volcanic Virgin Islands Complex, this island is unique in that it is composed exclusively of carbonate rock, probably of Pleistocene age. It is also uni que in the Virgin Islands in that its relief is only 25 feet as compared to the 1100 to 1700 foot relief exhibited by the other islands.
