Arranged in alphabetical order are the names of more than two hundred of the men who have figured conspicuously in Texas history. Space is accorded to each some what in proportion to his historical importance, though the sketches of men still living are very brief, and mainly confined to the mere facts connected with their public life.
The historical notes and topographical descriptions of the counties of the State, arranged in alphabetical order, are necessarily brief, but will give the reader a correct idea of their location, the char acter of the soil, and other particulars necessary for those seeking homes in the State.
