Excerpt from Redwood: A Guide to Redwood National and State Parks, California

Pages 14-15: A June sunset reddens surf at False Klamath Cove, where Del Norte Coast Redwoods State Park and Redwood National Park pro teet the west and east sides of us. Seen from aboard ships this cove often fooled crews into thinking it held the mouth of the Klamath River, hence the false. The anoes tral Klamath River, in fact, did reach the sea north of its present mouth.
