The writer may perchance prefer one orthography, the reader another. There may also be circumstances which make a rare spelling preferable in particular cases. The reader may rest assured that no form has been admitted to the pages of the Dictionary which is not supported by authority. What that authority is may be seen by turning to the proper article.
