We have already seen that the moon was the abode of the ancestors; we, therefore, perfectly understand its introduction as an emblem on an ancestral vase, without adopting the explana tion offered of moon-worship, The fish and the eye are easily explained in the same manner. The first lived in the element of which the moon's substance was held to be a concretion.
