The book is designed to supply a selection of short interesting and fairly easy pieces of Greek for trans lation With the ordinary help of a dictionary etc., but in order to make it useful also for preparing boys for Entrance scholarships, Entrance Examinations, University Certificates and the like, the meaning of some of the rarer words has been given at the end to make it serviceable for practice in Unseen Trans lation. The passages have also been selected as examples of good Greek style, so as to give a boy models for simple Greek composition.
