Sometimes employed, may be called rigorous to ex cess. That Christianity, by the singularity of its pretensions, by the dignity Of its professed origin, and the importance Of its end, should, in such an age, attract the notice Of speculative men, cannot, I think, surprise any judicious believer; and it ought not to alarm even the most pious, since the abilities displayed in the defence Of the Gospel bear no dishonourable proportion to the exertions Of those by whom it has been secretly undermined, or Openly assaulted.
